The Winter Monarchs is a large white oil painting in semi-abstract art nouveau style of two deer, a stag and a doe, in a winter landscape. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. Two deer stand looking imperiously at the viewer. The female is as proud as the male and it is easy to imagine them as monarchs in the way that they are posing as if for a formal portrait. Deer have this ability to look scared, slightly annoyed and defiant all at the same time once they see you and will try to out stare you if they can. The inspiration for the painting is simply me wanting to capture the beauty of red deer, especially when you see them in the snow and ice of winter as you can in Scotland. It was made using many layers of paint with very thick impasto white paint to add texture as the final layer. Stag in the Ether is one of a series of semi-abstract paintings of a red deer stag. It is 30x30x1.5 inches. The stag himself is painted in cool blues and purples and is seem emerging out of the ether from a warm red and orange background. The inspiration for this painting is simply an expression of the fascination I have for deer. They are often very elegant and appear and disappear at will which is why in folklore they are often portrayed as guides to the spirit world or to another universe. A nice idea I think! Ocean Dreaming is large original oil painting seascape of a serene white ocean seen from the beach. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. The style is impasto (thick paint) and semi-abstract. The sun can be seen above the sea beaming in all directions but in very muted colours. The viewpoint of the painting gives you the feeling you are standing right at the edge of the white rippling waves possibly about to wade in. It is a calm sea and looks inviting. It is called ocean dreaming as many people dream whilst looking at the sea. It is a therapeutic place to be and I wanted to capture some of that feeling from my own ocean dreaming moments. The painting is very textured and was built up over several layers of paint so that odd little lines and blobs show through. I like this as it contrasts with the flat horizontalness of seascapes. Autumn Beckons is an expressive, semi-abstract original oil painting of an Autumn path. It is 36x36x1.5 inches. The painting focuses on the centre of the painting where light is radiating out beneath the trees. It hints at revelation or hope or some kind of promise – or at least that is what it says to me! The painting was inspired by actual autumn walks in an around the Ashdown Forest (of Winnie the Pooh fame) and the Weald of Sussex where there are plenty of woodlands and copses and nooks and crannies that I never tire of exploring in different seasons. Summer Spirit is an hazy abstract landscape oil painting that hints of a shadowy late summer meadow and trees. It is 36x24x1.5 inches. A transparent swallow can be seen to the right and behind her you can see the suggestion of out of focus flowers, trees and a meadow. It captures a moment from a summer walk in Mayfield – made from memory which retains the feel of it more that the accuracy of the meadow I was in. The colours range through violet, green, yellow, pink and blue. The aim of this painting was to express the sensation of looking at a landscape with eyes partly shut. The swallow is the spirit of summer as they come to the UK during summertime and represent summer to me. July Dissolving is an original panoramic oil painting of the view from the South Downs in summer 2025. It is 48x24x1.5 inches. The painting was made after a jubilant walk up this hill from Washington in Sussex. The path winds steeply upwards through farm land and eventually arrives at Chanctonbury ring hill fort. You can see a complete hectic abundance of wildflowers and brambles and the hint of a winding chalk path. The scene is just starting to dissolve which represents the way nature transitions from one season into another – almost like a scene change in a theatre. As always, I have chosen to show some of the actual features of this landscape along with how I felt about it. It is happy but slightly wistful painting as summer is over far too soon in England! This painting was inspired by a photo that I took when were on holiday last year. The as sunset and sea colours were beautiful and such a contrast to the dark rocks and crags of the cliffs. This oil painting is unframed but does not have to be as the painting is continued on the canvas sides.

Beautiful vibrant picture of three full blown English roses. I love flowers and this is painted using a variety of photos of roses blooming in my garden. It's nice to see some summer flowers on the wall when the days get darker. This is a square format, oil on canvas. The picture is not framed but continues onto the canvas sides so can be hung without in the modern style.
