Softly Awakes My Heart II (Mon cÅur s'ouvre à ta voix) - this is the second painting in the series. As I was painting this seascape, I was listening to my favourite aria....Softly Awakes My Heart, from Saint-Saëns' opera Samson and Delilah, sung by Marilyn Horne. Such a soft and beautiful love song sung by Delilah to Samson....and the painting just seemed to emerge from the quiet passion of the song..........and this is reflected in the quiet beauty of the painting. It really is a soft and soothing painting...and would sit well in either a modern or a traditional setting.

The Silver Birches

The very latest in my Birch Tree Series.The art work is on 2 12in x 24in chunky canvas.I have used warm shades of creams,chocolate browns and reddish browns in the background.
The birch trees have been painted using a silver paint with brown highlights...the light catches the silver beautifuly and the trees seem to stand out from the canvas.
The paintings will look great in todays modern contemporary homes or the more traditional ones..the canvas come ready to hang with D rings and strings fitted.The artwork is also protected with 3 coats of varnish to protect it!

Dragonflies and Foxgloves
Description:
This fantasy painting has been created using acrylic , oils and encaustic wax.Its mainly monochrome but I have added some colour in the form of foxgloves and dragonflies using melted wax.
The water and light coming through the trees are created using oil paint--it works well and gives a lovely translucent effect.
The sides are all painted and its been varnished to protect it.
It comes strung ready to hang in the room of your choice!

Crashing Waves (MacMillan Donation)
Description:
Crashing Waves is a large atmospheric seascape painting by Scottish artist Ros Callander. It is painted on a chunky box framed canvas with the painting continuing around the sides of the canvas, to allow display without further framing. I took inspiration for this painting from the beach front of the small coastal village of Inverbervie in North East Scotland, one wild, stormy day.....I parked the car at the beach front and just sat and watched the hypnotic spectacle before me......it was stunning.
This painting is currently in the Macmillan Cancer Care exhibition in Aberdeen. UPDATE: Sold at exhibition. If you are interested in commissioning a similar painting, please email me to discuss your requirements on a no obligation basis.

My series of silhouette paintings including the "Yesterday" ones have proved to be very popular-so here is the latest one!
The sky is painted beautiful rich shades of purples that are lit up with a large moon-I have used a subtle gold glitter paint on the moon which catches the light.
A little rabbit looks out from under the tree at the wonderous sight.
