Under Sea Rebel
Description:
Under Sea Rebel is a large blue and turquoise underwater seascape painting of a queen angel fish in a pristine Caribbean Sea. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The fish swims along intent on her goal and above her you can see the swirling surface of the rippling waves. Below her are the patterns of light that reflect from their motion across a sandy seabed. Behind the fish is the darker blue of deeper water in the distance. This painting was inspired by a recent Aruba holiday where I often saw this actual fish swimming around a particular jetty. I like the idea of the freedom she had if she could only continue to escape the tourists and fishermen. This is another in a series of underwater paintings inspired by the sheer beauty of a blue sea and the fish that live in it. The Owls Symphony
Description:
The Owls Symphony is a semi-abstract, art nouveau, magical realism style oil painting of a white owl with a flower meadow behind her. It is 36x30x1.5 inches. The Owl is a white barn owl and she glides over the meadow in that mysterious way that owls do. There are sinuous lines of white energy flowing out from her which echo the movements she is making with her silent wings. She is a beautiful predator. The background is blurred and hints at a summer meadow with wildflowers and trees at the edge of the field. In His Element
Description:
In His Element is a vibrant semi abstract oil painting of a peacock blending into in a magical bluebell wood. It is 36x30x1.5 inches. The peacock is looking to his right under the green spring woodland trees. His tail is spread out around him and is sinking into the lush carpet of bluebells. His colours match the scene beautifully which is why he is in his element. The painting style is semi abstract, slightly art nouveau and is depicted in an exuberant, loose and blurry way so that it seems to shimmer. The vertical layers and lines are like a curtain that present different aspects of the same scene simultaneously. The concept of the painting was simply the idea of seeing a peacock in a bluebell wood. I would like to see it! Peacocks, for me, represent something exotic and gorgeous and strange and bluebells are equally exotic and gorgeous and strange. Painted on 3D canvas, edges white, ready to hang, no frame needed.

Somewhere in an Autumn Clearing
Description:
This oil painting is 40x40x1.5 inches and shows a glowing autumn landscape with two swallows playing in a clearing. It is semi abstract in style and painted using techniques that allow the viewer a glimpse of a little magical universe. The energy and the drama of an autumn clearing and trees is shown in the flow lines and blurred edges and other whimsical flourishes. The colours range through purple, blue, magenta, orange and golden yellow. The two swallows are swooping and diving in a clearing beyond a tree on the left and a patch of golden green meadow and more trees beyond. Transcendent Springtime
Description:
Transcendent Springtime is an exuberant semi-abstract painting of a springtime landscape with a brown hare in a wildflower meadow. It is 48x36 inches. The painting shows an ethereal scene whereby lots of particles, of various sizes, move in towards the centre of the painting where they coalesce into a joyful spring landscape. The brown hare is well disguised among the flowers and looks vaguely surprised by the way his world is in the process of being created or is possibly dissolving. This is partly inspired by the fact that whilst I love springtime, the flowers blooming and wildlife and bird activity changes very quickly from one week to the next and gives me a desperate urge to experience as much of it as I can before having to wait another year! A line of yellow flowers run across the middle of the marking the edge of the river. You cannot see the river itself but it has the meadow in the foreground and trees and fields in the background. The inspiration for this painting is a place near where I live in Forest by the bank of the river Medway. The feeling I was trying to convey is my constant one â Nature is beautiful, seasons are exciting, especially April and May, and our planet and its landscapes and wildlife need to be cherished and protected. Dedicated to everyone who is doing this from the person who picks up some litter to the David Attenboroughâs and Chris Packhamâs of the world â it is all valuable so thank you. Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer
Description:
Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer in a bluebell wood in springtime. It is 48x48x1.5 inches. The painting was inspired by the months of April and May when the woodlands become carpeted in bluebells. I rarely spot deer in the forests as deer hide expertly, but in springtime it is easier to see them against the blues, lilacs and pinks of the flowers. I began the painting thinking to make a traditional portrait of a stag and a doe but found it impossible. Deer are just too ethereal and I am too inclined to try and capture the spirit of them rather than the anatomical accuracies - so this is what happened. The painting shimmers with the life and energy of the universe under trees and I have made the most of the interplay between sun and shade by contrasting the blue and lilacs of the shadows against the yellows, pinks and greens of the sun dappled scene.
