Description:
This is a portrait of border collie Danny. He is a working sheepdog on a Pennine hill farm. This is painted on a standard stretched canvas based on a number of photographs which I took at his home and in his natural environment. Encaustic wax is a unique way of creating completely different paintings-- it is not 100% controllable -which makes it very interesting to work with..
I use an electric iron to melt the wax and 'paint' the picture using the iron. and love the unpredictable nature of it.

This is a portrait painted in the classic style. It was pre-selected for the RP exhibition at the Mall Galleries but did not make the final cut. It sold on the preview evening of a prestigious Yorkshire exhibition - unfortunately underpriced it was also wanted by two other prospective buyers and I am now in the process of painting another version for one of these people.
The painting is set in a contemporary dark mahogany effect tray frame measuring 69cm x 48 cm overall x 35 mm deep.
