A glorious sunset over the Northumberland coastline, inspired this creation in pan pastel, pastel, pencil and acrylic. I love drawing sunsets as they draw the day to the end, bringing the promise of a new day.

Created from a photograph taken looking out to a stormy sea off the coast of Northumberland, England. It is created using layers of pan pastel applied with sponges and sponge applicators, with finer detail added using acrylic paint. It was created after a tasking day of teaching as I looked for some ‘calm in the storm’ of the day.
