In His Element
Description:
In His Element is a vibrant semi abstract oil painting of a peacock blending into in a magical bluebell wood. It is 36x30x1.5 inches. The peacock is looking to his right under the green spring woodland trees. His tail is spread out around him and is sinking into the lush carpet of bluebells. His colours match the scene beautifully which is why he is in his element. The painting style is semi abstract, slightly art nouveau and is depicted in an exuberant, loose and blurry way so that it seems to shimmer. The vertical layers and lines are like a curtain that present different aspects of the same scene simultaneously. The concept of the painting was simply the idea of seeing a peacock in a bluebell wood. I would like to see it! Peacocks, for me, represent something exotic and gorgeous and strange and bluebells are equally exotic and gorgeous and strange. Painted on 3D canvas, edges white, ready to hang, no frame needed.

Follow the Dream
Description:
A golden, vibrantly coloured panoramic oil painting of the path through an ancient woodland in autumn. 40x16x1.5 inches. The painting technique is blurred and impasto and has a golden glow to it that changes throughout the day depending on the light. This painting almost vibrates with the promise of good things around the next bend. The inspiration was lots of woodland walks taken in autumn in the East Sussex area where the paths through the trees are often well worn and very old. Many were droversâ paths used for herding animals and the echoes of the past are very strong in some of them. I tried to capture the feeling of anticipation and hope of revelation that I often get when around trees and ancient forests. The title refers to the idea that it is a good idea to dream and that you may find what you are looking for around the next bend⦠Dedicated to nature conservationists everywhere. Painted on 3D canvas. Edges painted dark purple, no frame needed.

Somewhere in an Autumn Clearing
Description:
This oil painting is 40x40x1.5 inches and shows a glowing autumn landscape with two swallows playing in a clearing. It is semi abstract in style and painted using techniques that allow the viewer a glimpse of a little magical universe. The energy and the drama of an autumn clearing and trees is shown in the flow lines and blurred edges and other whimsical flourishes. The colours range through purple, blue, magenta, orange and golden yellow. The two swallows are swooping and diving in a clearing beyond a tree on the left and a patch of golden green meadow and more trees beyond. The sun is shining and the swallows are having a last meal before they fly south from England for the winter. The painting was inspired by the Wadhurst area of Sussex which has many rolling meadows and crevices and patches of woodland and streams where magical things take place if you just take care to look⦠(which I do!) Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang and no frame needed.

The Thin Place Beckons
Description:
The Thin Place Beckons is a very large semi-abstract original oil painting showing deer gathering beyond a lake in a heart shaped forest at twilight. It is 48x48x1.5 inches. It was made with liberal amounts of white, golden yellow, peach and purple paint with cyan blue for accent. The inspiration was the definition of the word âthin placeâ which is a Celtic expression for a place that stands between two universes. This is an idea I have always loved and the deer appear often in my paintings as in other folklore they are regarded as harbingers or guides between worlds. Because the paint is multilayered and oil colours do change quite dramatically in different light, (something that delighted me when I saw it in this painting), it will go from muted neutral colours to luminous sunset ones at different times of the day. I am satisfied I caught some of the magic I was trying to catch in this painting and hope that whoever buys it will have magic too. Painted on deep edge canvas, wide edges, painted white, ready to hang and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

The Final Gift of Summer
Description:
The Final Gift of Summer is a beautifully mellow river bank painting with swallows and a tangle of wild flowers. It is a 30x30x1.5 inches. The style is semi abstract and composed of many overlapping transparent layers in full vibrant rainbow colours. To the left are the deep greens, blues, purples and turquoise of trees in shadow and behind them you can see the glittering sun in the bend of the river. To the right is a view across a mass of summer flowers and the hint of fields and trees and hills in the background with a single dwelling. Two swallows are dancing around on the left gathering insects ready for their long flight south. This painting was inspired by a walk one August day on the South Downs near the river Arun. The feeling was a little sad as I always miss the swallows when they leave. I tried to capture the gorgeous melancholy of the end of summer and there is a definite mood to this painting that hints of the end of something and the beginning of something new⦠Dedicated to all those people working to keep Sussex and its wildlife safe and beautiful. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed.

The Song of the Deer is a colourful semi abstract oil painting of a gr
Description:
The Song of the Deer is a colourful semi abstract oil painting of a group of deer in an autumn wood. It is 40x30x1.5 inches. The painting shows a fallow deer buck next to a pine tree as he looks towards three female deer in a clearing to his left and above him. The painting is very colourful and has a slightly fairy tale feeling to it - there is clearly a story (or song) going on between the male and the female deer. The inspiration for the painting was a walk I took in Knole Park, Sevenoaks one autumn where there is a long grassy valley between heathland and forest where the deer can be heard calling to each other during breeding season. The stag in this painting is one I followed for a while up a slope through some ferns which were in full autumn mode of gold, orange and green. Behind him I could see a small bunch of females appearing and disappearing out of the forest and ferns and I felt happy to be witnessing a cycle of nature that is timeless and fascinating to see. It is painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang and no frame needed. Comes with certificate of authenticity and gifts from the artist.

Tiger in the Ether
Description:
Tiger in the Ether is a 40x40x1.5 inches purple oil painting of a semi-abstract art-nouveau style tiger against an abstract background. The style is slightly art nouveau and makes use of the complementary colours of purple with yellow and orange with blue which makes the colours very vibrant and almost mystical. The background hints at trees and light behind them but is quite abstract. The tiger herself has a pensive expression and looks kinder than most tigers. She appears to be dissolving into the ether (ether being a spiritual idea) and has sparkles of light or energy flowing out from her. In reality, tigers really are in danger of dissolving out of existence so the message is quite poignant. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticy and gifts from the artist.

Transcendent Springtime
Description:
Transcendent Springtime is an exuberant semi-abstract painting of a springtime landscape with a brown hare in a wildflower meadow. It is 48x36 inches. The painting shows an ethereal scene whereby lots of particles, of various sizes, move in towards the centre of the painting where they coalesce into a joyful spring landscape. The brown hare is well disguised among the flowers and looks vaguely surprised by the way his world is in the process of being created or is possibly dissolving. This is partly inspired by the fact that whilst I love springtime, the flowers blooming and wildlife and bird activity changes very quickly from one week to the next and gives me a desperate urge to experience as much of it as I can before having to wait another year! A line of yellow flowers run across the middle of the marking the edge of the river. You cannot see the river itself but it has the meadow in the foreground and trees and fields in the background. The inspiration for this painting is a place near where I live in Forest by the bank of the river Medway. The feeling I was trying to convey is my constant one â Nature is beautiful, seasons are exciting, especially April and May, and our planet and its landscapes and wildlife need to be cherished and protected. Dedicated to everyone who is doing this from the person who picks up some litter to the David Attenboroughâs and Chris Packhamâs of the world â it is all valuable so thank you. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed, ready to hang.

Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer
Description:
Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer in a bluebell wood in springtime. It is 48x48x1.5 inches. The painting was inspired by the months of April and May when the woodlands become carpeted in bluebells. I rarely spot deer in the forests as deer hide expertly, but in springtime it is easier to see them against the blues, lilacs and pinks of the flowers. I began the painting thinking to make a traditional portrait of a stag and a doe but found it impossible. Deer are just too ethereal and I am too inclined to try and capture the spirit of them rather than the anatomical accuracies - so this is what happened. The painting shimmers with the life and energy of the universe under trees and I have made the most of the interplay between sun and shade by contrasting the blue and lilacs of the shadows against the yellows, pinks and greens of the sun dappled scene. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, no frame needed. Comes with certificate of authenticity

A Day in December
Description:
A Day in December is a large oil painting of a pheasant in a winter woodland. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The painting is impressionistic, art nouveau and contemporary in style and is a capture of a day I spent in December last year in Friston Forest near Seaford. Autumn was very late and there were still leaves on the trees but the sun was very low so all kinds of interesting colours were circulating between warm and cold under the tree cover and this is what I wanted to catch. The pheasant is just a gorgeous twit who looked perfect in the composition as he contains the colours around him and is very much a part of the landscape. This particular part of the forest is a favourite of mine as still retains a faintly ethereal and magical quality. Dedicated to everyone who works to keep the South Downs landscapes and wildlife unmolested. Painted on deep edge canvas, no frame needed, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.
