Under Sea Rebel
Description:
Under Sea Rebel is a large blue and turquoise underwater seascape painting of a queen angel fish in a pristine Caribbean Sea. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The fish swims along intent on her goal and above her you can see the swirling surface of the rippling waves. Below her are the patterns of light that reflect from their motion across a sandy seabed. Behind the fish is the darker blue of deeper water in the distance. This painting was inspired by a recent Aruba holiday where I often saw this actual fish swimming around a particular jetty. I like the idea of the freedom she had if she could only continue to escape the tourists and fishermen. This is another in a series of underwater paintings inspired by the sheer beauty of a blue sea and the fish that live in it. Once Upon a Time
Description:
Once Upon a Time is a large oil painting of a colourful woodland path watched over by a small deer where strange things are about to happen. It is 48x48x1.5 inches. The painting shows an autumnal woodland path leading to a light filled clearing. The path is enticing and will lead you to the thing you most want to see there. To the left is a small female deer. Deer are often seen as spiritual harbingers or guides. The painting style is semi-abstract art nouveau and was simply inspired by the thrill I personally get when I walk from an ancient English wood into a light filled clearing. It is often magical and I often feel as if a revelation is about to happen. I am not sure of the basis of that feeling but I am not along in finding Nature quite magical and woodland walking quite therapeutic! Stag Materializing
Stag Materializing is an oil painting of a red deer stag painted in a semi abstract style and in vibrant rainbow colours. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The painting is multilayered and multicoloured but the predominate colours are purples and oranges. The face and antlers of the stag are painted in a portrait style but the body becomes more and more transparent as it recedes into the strange space of the background. To the right is the hint of a pine tree. The painting was made as I sometimes really just want to paint a beautiful animal. Be advised that there is a texture to the painting as another painting is underneath it (also of a stag but smaller) some of this can be detected by touching it but it does not affect the majesty of the painting. The Spell Caster
Description:
The Spell Caster is a warm, colourful autumn woodland path semi-abstract painting with barn owl. It is 30x30x1.5 inches. The painting is mostly orange and purple and though is clearly of woodland, it is built up with many transparent layers of rainbow colours and vertical marks and drips that give the painting the idea of it flickering in and out of a different reality. I find woodland magical and I find owls magical and I love autumn so this is the combination of those things. It was mostly inspired by some of areas of woodland around the Ashdown Forest in Sussex where you can go quite suddenly from a sunlight heathland into dark and sinister patches of dark forest. Follow the Dream

A golden, vibrantly coloured panoramic oil painting of the path through an ancient woodland in autumn. 40x16x1.5 inches. The painting technique is blurred and impasto and has a golden glow to it that changes throughout the day depending on the light. This painting almost vibrates with the promise of good things around the next bend. The inspiration was lots of woodland walks taken in autumn in the East Sussex area where the paths through the trees are often well worn and very old. Many were droversâ paths used for herding animals and the echoes of the past are very strong in some of them. I tried to capture the feeling of anticipation and hope of revelation that I often get when around trees and ancient forests. The title refers to the idea that it is a good idea to dream and that you may find what you are looking for around the next bend⦠Dedicated to nature conservationists everywhere. Painted on 3D canvas. The Song of the Deer is a colourful semi abstract oil painting of a group of deer in an autumn wood. It is 40x30x1.5 inches. The painting shows a fallow deer buck next to a pine tree as he looks towards three female deer in a clearing to his left and above him. The painting is very colourful and has a slightly fairy tale feeling to it - there is clearly a story (or song) going on between the male and the female deer. The inspiration for the painting was a walk I took in Knole Park, Sevenoaks one autumn where there is a long grassy valley between heathland and forest where the deer can be heard calling to each other during breeding season. The stag in this painting is one I followed for a while up a slope through some ferns which were in full autumn mode of gold, orange and green. Behind him I could see a small bunch of females appearing and disappearing out of the forest and ferns and I felt happy to be witnessing a cycle of nature that is timeless and fascinating to see. Tiger in the Ether
Description:
Tiger in the Ether is a 40x40x1.5 inches purple oil painting of a semi-abstract art-nouveau style tiger against an abstract background. The style is slightly art nouveau and makes use of the complementary colours of purple with yellow and orange with blue which makes the colours very vibrant and almost mystical. The background hints at trees and light behind them but is quite abstract. The tiger herself has a pensive expression and looks kinder than most tigers. She appears to be dissolving into the ether (ether being a spiritual idea) and has sparkles of light or energy flowing out from her. In reality, tigers really are in danger of dissolving out of existence so the message is quite poignant. A Day in December
Description:
A Day in December is a large oil painting of a pheasant in a winter woodland. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The painting is impressionistic, art nouveau and contemporary in style and is a capture of a day I spent in December last year in Friston Forest near Seaford. Autumn was very late and there were still leaves on the trees but the sun was very low so all kinds of interesting colours were circulating between warm and cold under the tree cover and this is what I wanted to catch. The pheasant is just a gorgeous twit who looked perfect in the composition as he contains the colours around him and is very much a part of the landscape. This particular part of the forest is a favourite of mine as still retains a faintly ethereal and magical quality.
