Meadow Born is a semi-abstract exuberant wildflower meadow painting with a hare appearing in it. It is 36x24x1.5inches. The painting was made by building up transparent layers of paint and lots of art nouveau style brush strokes and flourishes. The hare was painted in such a way as she looks ethereal and intransient. The inspiration is simply how wonderful spring time is and how fast it goes. The hare is best spotted in springtime so she fits ephemeral nature of the season. The Glade Portal
Description:
The Glade Portal is a very large oil painting of a springtime woodland glade with a river, barn owls, blossom and trees. It is 60x36x1.5inches. The painting shows the view across a shallow river with a meadow beyond gleaming through the trees at the edge. Two pale barn owls are flying across it looking as if they just escaped from somewhere else (hence the tile). There is a hint of blossom and bluebells and the luminous colours of springtime in England. The painting was originally inspired by a walk I took in the High Weald of Sussex where there are many forests, woodlands, streams and hills. There are always surprises around every corner and it is not hard to feel you are a fairy tale sometimes. This painting has a unique atmosphere to it and the colours change in interesting ways depending on the light. Description:
April Shimmers is a semi abstract springtime inspired landscape painting of apple blossom trees by a river. It is 30x30x1.5inches. The inspiration for it was a memory I have of this river and the blossom trees as I saw them one April a few years ago. I spent a little while just enjoying the moment and listening to the birds and trickling of the river. Anyone who paints will know that the difficulty you have when painting nature is there is so much of it. You canât paint every leaf and every flower so you have the find a way to show the feeling of it â which I am confident I have achieved. It will give me spring whenever I need it â especially in an English winter when the promise of spring is really needed! Equine Spell
Description:
Equine Spell is a large expressive magical realism painting of white dappled Arabian horses. It is 36x35x1.5inches. Ashdown Forest Path
Description:
Ashdown Forest Path is an autumn path oil painting inspired by the Ashdown Forest of East Sussex. It is 30x30x1.5 inches. The painting was made after a walk in Ashdown Forest (Winnie the Pooh country) in October 2025. Beech trees had a green hue and were almost bare except for some dark orange leaves whilst the forest floor was golden and purple with fallen leaves. This particular path goes towards a clearing and stream in the distance where you can see the pale yellow light of a late autumn afternoon shining between the trees. I was trying to capture this moment in time along with the ethereal quality that is often present when you walk a forest path. Dorset Calling
Description:
Dorset Calling is a panoramic oil painting of a glimpse of the Dorset coastline seen through blossom and brambles. It is 48x24x1.5 inches. The painting was inspired by a trip to Dorset in April 2025 and captures my enthusiasm on being there for the first time. The brambles were in flower and I like the poetry of seeing the enticing blue sea, coastline and countryside through their tangled barrier. A lone seagull can be seen and there is a hint of farmland and cliff edge and springtime flowers. It was painted in thick jubilant brush strokes and relies heavily on memory in order to better capture the feeling of joy I experienced there. Dissolving Dream
Description:
Dissolving Dream is a large textured abstract landscape oil painting about frustration and hope. The painting shows a dream house glimpsed through dark tangled trees. It is heavily textured in a dark iridescent green background. At first glance, it is completely abstract with lines and curves and spots of bright colour directing the eye around the painting. In one small section to the left, you can see an old English house with bright sunlight illuminating one side of it. There is also the hint of a stream and a field or flowers beyond. The painting represents a long-term dream of mine to live in a beautiful house in the countryside. I suspect the ship may have sailed on that dream so that is why it is both a hopeful painting and a wistful one. The Autumn Portal
Description:
The Autumn Portal is a large otherworldly oil painting of an autumn forest path being revealed though a veil. It is 60x36x1.5 inches. The painting is large enough so that when you stand before it you are drawn along the path until it descends serenely into the distance. Anything you can dream of could be just round that bend. The trees on each side are in autumn colours of orange, magentas, yellows and greens. Some are defined and some are almost abstract. Shades of violet and faded purples play off against the vivid yellows. A low November sun sends beams of light through from the right casting tree shadows across the path and into the deeper woodland on the left. There is a mystery to the painting and the inference is that there is a portal here that may lead elsewhere. It was inspired by recent walks by the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex where Autumn of 2025 was especially vibrant and almost fairy tale in in natureâs last big statement of the year. Summer Spirit

Summer Spirit is an hazy abstract landscape oil painting that hints of a shadowy late summer meadow and trees. It is 36x24x1.5 inches. A transparent swallow can be seen to the right and behind her you can see the suggestion of out of focus flowers, trees and a meadow. It captures a moment from a summer walk in Mayfield â made from memory which retains the feel of it more that the accuracy of the meadow I was in. The colours range through violet, green, yellow, pink and blue. The aim of this painting was to express the sensation of looking at a landscape with eyes partly shut. The swallow is the spirit of summer as they come to the UK during summertime and represent summer to me.
