Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer
Description:
Divine Monarchs is a large semi-abstract wildlife painting of two deer in a bluebell wood in springtime. It is 48x48x1.5 inches. The painting was inspired by the months of April and May when the woodlands become carpeted in bluebells. I rarely spot deer in the forests as deer hide expertly, but in springtime it is easier to see them against the blues, lilacs and pinks of the flowers. I began the painting thinking to make a traditional portrait of a stag and a doe but found it impossible. Deer are just too ethereal and I am too inclined to try and capture the spirit of them rather than the anatomical accuracies - so this is what happened. The painting shimmers with the life and energy of the universe under trees and I have made the most of the interplay between sun and shade by contrasting the blue and lilacs of the shadows against the yellows, pinks and greens of the sun dappled scene. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, no frame needed. Comes with certificate of authenticity

Cuckmere Haven Landscape with Owl
Description:
Cuckmere Haven with Owl is a painting of the Cuckmere Haven river estuary near Seaford during the summer of 2022. It is 30x36x1.5 inches. This painting was inspired by a walk I took in August from Alfriston down to the sea along the river Cuckmere. The sky really was this blue and the golden yellows and browns of the hills and fields and the red barn really were these colours. Apparently, a short-eared owl is sometimes seen in the marshes here and so she makes a good addition to the scene. This is a spot that many artists paint so instead of trying to compete I took the thing I remembered most about this lovely day and that was the deep blue sky. Painted on deep edge canvas, no frame needed, edges painted to extend the landscape. Comes with certificate of authenticity and is ready to hang.

A Day in December
Description:
A Day in December is a large oil painting of a pheasant in a winter woodland. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. The painting is impressionistic, art nouveau and contemporary in style and is a capture of a day I spent in December last year in Friston Forest near Seaford. Autumn was very late and there were still leaves on the trees but the sun was very low so all kinds of interesting colours were circulating between warm and cold under the tree cover and this is what I wanted to catch. The pheasant is just a gorgeous twit who looked perfect in the composition as he contains the colours around him and is very much a part of the landscape. This particular part of the forest is a favourite of mine as still retains a faintly ethereal and magical quality. Dedicated to everyone who works to keep the South Downs landscapes and wildlife unmolested. Painted on deep edge canvas, no frame needed, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Tiger Materializing is a large semi-abstract oil painting of a tiger
Description:
Tiger Materializing is a large semi-abstract oil painting of a tiger appearing out of a vibrantly coloured background. It is 48x36x1.5 inches. The background is highly textured (as there is another painting beneath it which did not work) and I decided to see what I could create out of the texture created from that one. It was almost like sculpting and what eventually materialized was a tigress. She is beautiful and lethal and is a powerfully muscled creature though I have deliberately avoided being too precise with her anatomy and fur. The inspiration behind it being simply a celebration of how beautiful tigers are and what a tragedy it would be to lose them from the world. It is more abstract than my usual style but does contain my favourite colours and the contrast I like to make between traditional vs abstract. This, for me, makes the painting much more interesting than some wildlife style tiger paintings as it shows the spiritual energy of the tiger in addition to its distinctive fur patterns. Dedicated to all those people who are working to protect and save wildlife and their habitats. Please keep doing what you are doing.

The Peacocks Secret
Description:
The Peacocks Secret is a large semi-abstract oil painting of a peacock in a secret garden by a lake in late summer. It is 40x40x1.5 inches. Wildflowers edge the lake and the peacock sits on a branch to one side allowing us a glimpse of the garden he presides over â almost as if he has pulled back a curtain for us. On the opposite bank you can see a field of wheat and trees and a path in the distance beyond. The painting is art nouveau in style and very vibrant, colourful and magical as a landscape. It was inspired by a walk I took in Wadhurst area a few years back where I came across a clump of trees in the middle of a massive field of corn where I could hear a peacock calling. It turned out there was a house and garden there completely hidden except for the track that led to it through the field. I spent quite some time listening to the peacock and getting glimpses through the fence of the lake and the paradise of garden and flowers inside. It became dream-like for me and I have now painted it a few times. I used many layers of colour and some gold paint and pearlescent blues on the peacock so that he glitters a little and due to the multilayers of colours, they change throughout the day in an intriguing way. Videos of the making of this painting can be seem on my YouTube channel. Painted on deep edge canvas, edges white, ready to hang, no frame needed

The Gloaming
Description:
The Gloaming is a semi abstract red, purple and gold painting of a group of deer in an evening forest. It is 30x30x1.5 inches. This painting is my valiant attempt to capture that moment when you walk into a woodland and manage to spot a herd of deer just before they see you and vanish. This particular moment was inspired by the deer at Eridge Park during January when the trees where completely bare and the deer blended into the colours of the forest even more effectively than usual. It was late afternoon and the sun was casting long beams though the trees and casting twisted shadows and strange shapes. One of the streams in this park is called the Chalybeate Spring and is the iron-rich source of the spa water in Tunbridge Wells. You can just see a hint of it behind the deer. Painted on 3D canvas, edges painted the red purple, no frame needed, ready to hang.

Coming Home
Description:
Coming Home is a large square seascape painting of the sea, Seven Sistersâ chalk cliffs and the lighthouse at Eastbourne in East Sussex. It is 40x40x1.5 inches on white deep edge canvas. The sea is very blue and you can see the land fading off into a purple haze in the distance towards Seaford. A single seagull is returning home. This painting was inspired by the many times I have walked along these cliffs from Eastbourne over to Birling Gap. The sea is turquoise near the cliffs where it is affected by the colour of the rocks underneath it and is deeper blue as you go further out. Paint has been used liberally especially on the cliffs to give an idea of the texture. Dripples of white from the base of the cliffs hint at the motion of the sea and the erosion that is occurring because of it. This landscape is a great place to see for miles around over a beautiful sea and one I visited regularly to keep me happy during the covid lockdowns. No frame needed, ready to hang. Dedicated everyone loves to walk and who is active in preserving nature.

White Horse Echoes
Description:
White Horse Echoes is a large framed equestrian oil painting in shades of pastel and white showing two white Spanish horses behind a white transparent veil. The style is impressionist and contemporary. The horses are galloping in a meadow filled with wildflowers with trees, fields and hills receding into the background. It is a very Sussex landscape. The painting was originally painted a few years ago in response to the horses and scenery I see around me quite often where I live. However, I recently decided to try glazing transparent white over the painting to make it more dreamlike. This is because horses are naturally dreamlike for me as I am allergic to them so canââ¬â¢t have much to do with them even though I find them really beautiful! It has made the horses both realistic and ethereal at the same time and I like the result. The painting has a basic white frame on it which makes the dimensions 54x44x1.5 inches in total.

Horse Metamorphosis - a large contemporary red oil painting of beautif
Description:
Horse Metamorphosis is a 31.5 x 47x.0.5 inches large contemporary red oil painting of beautiful gold Arabian horse against an abstract bright red background. The golden horse dances in the foreground inside a dark forest with mottled light falling in patches on the path out towards the clearing. The path leads out of the woods and into a glowing summer wildflower meadow. Veils of transparent bright red hang over the scene as the horse begins to emerge from that world into a different one. The painting was started years ago simply to reflect the happiness I get when looking at a beautiful horse but become something more when the red veils were added which gives it a real presence. The original message of the painting was that there is more to life than hiding in the dark. I think now the message is more that there are other realities and that is worth exploring them. It is painted on thin edged canvas painted red, ready to hang.
