I love how in spring and summer this desire to be seen reaches a peak and have tried to show the sheer jubilance of a simple clump of summer poppies. The tree behind has its branches spread wide and reaching outwards which adds to the energy of the landscape. The location that sparked the idea for this painting was on some hills in Sussex where I sat under a tree last summer and simply enjoyed watching the flowers, smelling the scent of them and hearing the buzz of insects. It is a simple painting with a simple idea and is dedicated to everyone else who loves nature and seeks to keep it safe and thriving.
