As I was painting this seascape, I was listening to my favourite aria....Softly Awakes My Heart, from Saint-Saëns' opera Samson and Delilah, sung by Marilyn Horne. Such a soft and beautiful love song sung by Delilah to Samson....and the painting just seemed to emerge from the quiet passion of the song..........and this is reflected in the quiet beauty of the painting. It really is a soft and soothing painting...and would sit well in either a modern or a traditional setting.
