Artist Biography:
I have been painting for many years, starting with oils, but now paint in all mediums, whichever suits the subject best. Having lived in this area most of my life, I am drawn naturally to the harbours, beaches and coastline scenes which surround us; the many facets of the way light reacts on the sea and surrounding objects in different situations. Torquay, itself, has become very commercialised over the years but towns like Brixham, Teignmouth and Dartmouth still retain that elusive "painterly" quality, and I find quite a few of my subjects there. I have exhibited quite widely in Devon, including the S.W. Academy, and the yearly exhibitions of the Dartmoor Artists at Ashburton. I've sold paintings to people from all over Britain as well as from abroad. I have also won many awards from the art societies to which I belong, such as the Devon Art Society, Torbay Guild of Artists etc. |
Artist News/Exhibitions:
Most of the exhibitions which I enter start in May and carry on until October. The next Exhibition I shall be exhibiting in is the Teignmouth Art Society Exhibition at the Victoria Hall, Shaldon which starts on Thursday 19th August and ends on Monday the 30th August. Open every day 10am-5pm. Admission Free. Some very talented artists on display. |
