Artist Biography:
Based in Newport, South Wales, Martyn has been a keen amateur artist since school and studied art at A level, before leaving to pursue a career in the financial sector. He says he’s cured of all that now and having recently retired he wants to devote more time to painting.
He was inspired to take painting up again by his wife, Kim, who when watching a Bob Ross program told him that ‘he should have a go at that’, after seeing him paint life-sized emulsion murals on the bare walls of each house they had lived in. She bought him a start-up kit to get him going and he has enjoyed it ever since.
Martyn love of outdoor life and the countryside is seen in the majority of his paintings and as a keen angler he is inspired by some of the beautiful lakes and rivers in places that often only anglers see; many in South Wales, hence the amount of water shown in his paintings! He has also painted from landscape photographs that his daughter took of memorable places she visited in her six months in NZ and Oz.

Also if you have any favourite holiday landscape or seascape photos that you would like to have 'immortalised' in oils, I will be happy to paint them for you.
