Artist Biography:
My paintings search for a quiet place, one of spiritual beauty to revive the soul; sometimes inspired by local scenes, occasionally straight from imagination. All very different, they seem to reflect my surroundings and my temperament: the climate here in North East Scotland is so changeable and the terrain is so very variable, it suits me and I love it. I am never lost for ideas.

I love to paint the ruins and rocks, bothies and rugged landscapes in bright obscure colours that convey the beauty of nature and Scotland’s light.

Exploring an eclectic variety of subjects, I use vivid colours, plenty of contrast, and I work mainly in heavy body and thickly textured acrylics - although I use different media according to the effect I’m looking for. I'm now using oil paint for some works because I find the pigment so much richer and the workable time longer.

Commissions are welcome. My sanctuary is open for you to watch me working, browse around, ask questions and delve into my drawings anytime, just phone.

Please follow my website(s) for a better insight into my work.

Careful packaging and special delivery is included in the price. Where frames need to be found, this is mentioned. Canvases are painted on all edges, requiring no frame, but can just as easily be framed to match an existing display on your walls. Giclee prints available from some works - please ask.

Photos on the website don't really show the paintings at their best; "It's so much better to see the real thing." If you like the look of something please email for more information. I can send you bigger, better photographs to help you envisage the dimensions and details of a painting.
