About The Artist

Artist Biography:
Born in London and brought up by the great artist Cyril Hamersma who would take me to his exhibitions (pictured above at the Victoria Embankment circa 1956) and give me encouragement to create throughout my life. I took formal training in Art & Design in East Anglia, late 60s, and went on to use it in careers involving teaching and writing.
Nearly all my paintings are a compilation of images I\\\'ve seen or remembered. I don\\\'t ever - and would never - copy a photograph but the pictures develop from my love of colour, my beautiful surroundings here in Scotland, and a sometimes unstoppable imagination; together with an exuberant desire to explore, experiment with texture and paint.

Artist News/Exhibitions:
My work sells frequently from Mearns Arthouse in Stonehaven where I ensure there is a changing display of seascapes. I also exhibit a variety of work in regular shows around my home town in North East Scotland. I have taken part in NEOS (North East Open Studios) many times and I’m a member of the Scottish Artists Union.
My MAJOR SOLO EXHIBITION in Montrose, Angus in May 2013 was a good experience and a great stepping stone... |
