Part of my ongoing landscape of the mind series of paintings. This mindscape painting attempts to conjure memories of the dying milltown from my childhood memories. Acrylic on stretched canvas. This painting is strung on the back and ready to hang. The edges are painted white for a clean contemporary look.
This is Buster, a loveable rogue painted as a commission from a photograph supplied by his owners, although I did meet Buster in person on a number of occasions. If ever the film "Lady & the Tramp" were to be re-made using real life characters, Buster would be the stand-out favourite to play the leading role. This is painted on a standard stretched canvas and is framed in a contemporary tray frame measuring 68cm x 53cms x 35 mm overall. I am happy to undertake similar commissions - please contact me for information.
Lady and a fox
Eye catching seascape painting. The foreground has been textured with sand and gravel to draw the eye in and add extra detail and depth to the painting. The silver sea reflects the light making this eye catching and original. There is also texture on the rocks and headland. The painting continues round the edges of the canvas making this ready for immediate hanging with no need for framing. It has been finished with a protectve satin varnish.
Great Horned Owl
A great horned owl peers from amongst the white oak foliage - perhaps getting ready to settle down to rest after a night's hunting. My thanks to Jennie Norris for the reference photograph of the owl. Widely distributed in the Americas, the Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is also known as the tiger owl or hoot owl. It is the second heaviest owl in North America, after the snowy owl, and its well-camouflaged plumage varies considerably across its range. The large, powerful talons are capable of exerting 300 pounds of pressure per square inch. Those tufts of feathers that give rise to the species' name are thought to be used to give visual cues when interacting with other owls. This original pencil drawing by Elaine Jones was made with Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Pablo and Luminance pencils on Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper. Image measures approximately 37cm x 29cm, unframed.
